pop the hood, look at the top of the engine, is narrow or is it wide, or you can look at the emmission sticker, 2.2l (i believe) is a 4 cylinder and the 3.0 is the v6

The V6 has a silver plastic engine cover that says V6 on it above the Toyota logo.

You don't have to use Toyota-brand oil. Any brand name oil like Castrol, Pennzoil, Valvoline, or Mobil will do if it's an acceptable weight - 5W-20 for 4-cyl.

Some have argued that 5W-30 oil is better because 5W-20 is too thin, and that the manufacturer recommends 5W-20 only because they wanted better fuel economy numbers to provide to the EPA. I would stick with the factory-recommended specs for now.

I recommend changing the oil more often that the factory recommendations. 3,500 miles is my recommendation for conventional oils for a Toyota 4-cyl. 4,000 miles for semi-synthetic, and 5,000 for full synthetic oils.

Usually if you open the hood, it will be printed on top of the engine. If not there you can find it by reading the Vin number and comparing it to the Vin codes that should be in the front of your manual.
